FAQ
What is the MYMCO app?
MYMCO is a mobile app that brings the mountain community together in one place: adventurers, guides and agencies. It builds trust and transparency between them, so people know who they're traveling with before they commit.
For guides and agencies, it puts your business in your pocket. Manage trips, teams, participants, bookings and payments from your phone, and get discovered by adventurers searching for guided mountain experiences.
How much does MYMCO take?
MYMCO charges a 10% commission on each booking, calculated on your trip price. Travelers also pay a separate Admin Fee at checkout, which isn't deducted from what you receive.
What do I need to list trips on MYMCO?
You'll need a verified professional account before you can list paid trips. You can't list or deliver paid trips until your account has been approved, and every guide you deploy on a trip must be at least 18 years old.
As part of verification, we'll ask for your business or professional details, relevant qualifications or certifications, and valid liability insurance. You'll also need to keep this information up to date while offering trips through MYMCO.
Not sure where to start? See how onboarding works for independent guides and agencies.
Do I need to be an IFMGA guide to use MYMCO?
No. MYMCO isn't limited to IFMGA-certified guides. When you apply, you share the professional qualifications, certifications or memberships relevant to each discipline you offer. They need to be appropriate for the discipline, terrain and altitude of your trips.
You're responsible for holding every qualification, licence, registration and permit that the law requires in each country where you operate. This differs by country and region: some places require a recognised guide qualification such as IFMGA for certain terrain or activities, others don't regulate guiding at all. MYMCO doesn't independently check what a particular country requires. You can read the details in our Guide & Agency Terms.
Do I need my own insurance?
Yes. Guides and agencies are required to hold appropriate liability insurance for the activities they offer. That means your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance, covering your guiding activities, at your own cost. We'll ask for evidence of it during verification.
MYMCO does not provide professional liability insurance as part of the platform, commission or Admin Fee. You can read the details in our Guide & Agency Terms.
How is onboarding different for independent guides and agencies?
Independent guides start by creating a regular individual account. Once inside MYMCO, you can start the guide verification process from your profile to become a verified professional guide and access your professional dashboard.
Agencies have a separate onboarding process from the start. When creating an account, select Agency and complete the agency onboarding and verification process. Once approved, you'll get access to your agency dashboard and professional tools.
Do I still control how I run my trips?
Yes. They're your trips. You decide the itinerary, group size, equipment requirements, required experience and fitness levels, and how the trip is run. You also have final authority on safety decisions during a trip.
MYMCO provides the platform for discovery, booking and trip management — you remain responsible for planning and delivering the experience in line with MYMCO's platform terms.
How do payouts work?
Bookings can be paid in full or split into a 30% deposit and a balance payment of 70%. The full commission is deducted from the first payment. Deposit funds are released after a 48-hour fraud and chargeback hold, and the balance is released 2 days after the trip departure, pending no-shows or cancellations. Learn more from our full Terms & Conditions.
What happens if someone cancels?
MYMCO has a standard cancellation and refund policy designed to give both travelers and trip providers clear expectations before a booking is made.
The amount refunded depends on when the traveler cancels and whether you've already incurred eligible non-refundable trip costs. If you cancel the trip, the traveler will generally receive a full refund. Different rules may apply in exceptional circumstances such as severe weather or other events outside your control.
You can find the full cancellation and refund rules in our Booking and Cancellation Policy.
Does MYMCO handle emergencies or rescue?
No. MYMCO doesn't provide, coordinate or fund emergency response, search, rescue, evacuation or medical assistance. You're responsible for your own emergency, incident and evacuation procedures, and for following them on every trip.
If a serious incident happens, you need to report it to MYMCO as soon as reasonably practicable, and within 48 hours. The details are in our Guide & Agency Terms.
What does "verified" mean on MYMCO?
Before you can list trips, we review the documents and declarations you submit, such as your professional details, qualifications or certifications, and liability insurance. Our checks are limited to what you present at the time of review.
Verified is not an endorsement, assessment or guarantee of a guide's competence. You may only present qualifications, certifications, memberships and insurance that you actually hold, and you remain responsible for delivering each trip with the care and skill expected of a qualified mountain guide.
